Big R Bridge recently designed and supplied a Rolled Beam Bridge as part of the Oklahoma Department of Transportation (ODOT) Bridge Replacement Program. The 122′ stream crossing was installed on State Highway 78, the North 1st Avenue thoroughfare near Southeastern Oklahoma State University in the City of Durant.
Big R Bridge now approved as an ODOT Vehicular Bridge Fabricator
ODOT has been on a mission to rehabilitate or replace the State’s bridge infrastructure since 2003 and is on target to eliminate their deficient bridges by the end of the decade. This Big R Bridge structure helped introduce ODOT and the contractor to a reliable resource for steel span engineering and beam fabrication. It also helped Big R Bridge get approved for vehicular steel bridge fabrication in Oklahoma.
Increasing our presence in Oklahoma
We had previously done some county bridge projects in the Northwestern part of the State and some other projects in Southern and Western areas in 2011. We look forward to increasing our presence in Oklahoma in the near future.
Big R’s MSE Structural Walls also approved by ODOT
Our Vist-A-Wall MSE Structural Wall System was also added to the ODOT approved products list. These historically-proven, cost-effective systems have minimal equipment and labor requirements and are easy to install with local crews and equipment. They adapt well to curves, angles and steps, and are available as Precast Panel Walls or Wire Walls with natural stone at the face.
Opportunity to save with Bridge/Abutment Packages
The ODOT Vist-A-Wall approval allows Oklahoma project partners to package their solutions and save time and money by dealing with one manufacturer/supplier for both the bridges and the abutments. Other package items can include: piers/towers, back walls, decking and bearing pads.
