All-Steel Modular Superstructures

Big R manufactures modular sections that allow for rapid installation in the field. These bridges are ideal for public works applications, as local crews using on-hand equipment can typically place the superstructure in one day. Superstructures can be fabricated with both square and skewed ends to suit any site conditions. Spans from 16’ to over 150’ are available in any width.

When concrete decks are required, superstructures are manufactured with steel girders complete with shop-installed shear connectors and stay-in- place forms. After erection of the superstructure, rebar is installed and a concrete deck is poured by others.

AISC Certification

Big R Bridge is certified by the American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) for Simple and Major Steel Bridges with Fracture Critical and Sophisticated Paint endorsements. Specifying an AISC certified fabricator ensures a quality product will be manufactured for your project site.

Bridge Design

All bridge superstructures are designed by our in-house engineering team. We can also provide foundation design assistance when required.

Big R Utility Bridge.Utility Bridge

Applications that require single lane access (14 and 16 feet wide) are ideal for our Utility Bridge. A variety of loadings from standard highway vehicles to off-highway trucks can be accommodated. With the bridge being shipped in two modules, installation is often completed within hours after the bridge arrives at the job site.
