525' Big R Pedestrian Bridge part of Austin’s MoPac Improvement Project

MoPac, named after the original Missouri Pacific Railway line running along the route, is one of the most important transportation corridors into downtown Austin. The 11-mile MoPac Improvement Project added express toll lanes and other enhancements without widening the highway’s footprint. Along with that, came significant improvements to the area’s shared use path system, including a new 525' Big R Pedestrian Bridge across the corridor and the rail line – now a Union-Pacific line.

Canadian Pacific tunnel for K+S Potash Canada mine is the first installation using our patented bevel reinforcement

Big R Bridge recently collaborated on an interesting rail tunnel project with our AIL Group sister company in Canada, Atlantic Industries Limited (AIL). A Canadian Pacific (CP) tunnel for the K+S Potash Canada (KSPC) mine in southern Saskatchewan is the first Canadian installation of a Super•Cor Round structure with our patented MSE-reinforced bevels.

Two Big R Bridges connect community to Atlanta Braves’ new ballpark and The Battery Atlanta

Anchored by Sun Trust Park, the new home of the Atlanta Braves, The Battery Atlanta is a luxurious 1.5-million-square-foot mix of culinary, entertainment, shopping, accommodation, commercial and residential experiences — dubbed ‘the South’s preeminent lifestyle destination’. A safe and efficient pedestrian connection was needed to connect the nearby community and baseball fans to this new ‘mini-city’ and stadium at the intersection of two major multi-lane parkways.

Wildlife crossing is Oregon DOT’s first Super•Cor project

A 265' Super•Cor Round wildlife crossing with step-beveled ends was recently specified and designed by the Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) for a canyon/wildlife crossing on their U.S. 20 Pioneer Mountain - Eddyville rerouting project. Most DOTs prefer the manufacturer to design crossings like this. The fact that ODOT designed their very first structural plate project ‘in-house’, is noteworthy.

Big R recreates iconic pedestrian bridge with a few key differences

Located at the confluence of two rivers, Glenwood Springs, Colorado is a picturesque tourist destination made famous by its bubbling hot springs, caverns and other recreational amenities. At historic Grand Avenue, two prominent bridges reached across I-70, the Colorado River and a rail corridor to connect the two sides of the City.

Rapid response maintains factory spur line in Nova Scotia

Torrential rains associated with Hurricane Matthew had accelerated the inevitable collapse of an older stone culvert on a spur line serving a Michelin Tire plant. Critical rail shipments could have been interrupted without a replacement culvert supplied very quickly. It also had to meet current fish passage requirements from the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Tunable Bridge connects LRT to medical center near Denver

Big R Bridge recently designed and supplied a 192' Tunable Bridge as part of a 10.5 mile light rail line extension through the City of Aurora, just east of Denver. The new bridge connects the Florida Station walk-up platform across the I-225 to a medical center and related facilities.

50' Maine forestry bridge pleases all – especially migrating salmon

When the Atlantic Salmon Federation (ASF) and Project SHARE (Salmon Habitat and River Enhancement) were ready to create a fish passage under a busy forestry connector in eastern Maine, there were a number of concerned stakeholders – the forestry industry, the electric utility, a gas company, The Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
