ASTM International Committee A05 on Metallic-Coated Iron and Steel Products has presented Dan Edwards, Director of Technical Resources at Big R Bridge with the Kenneth J. Boedecker Jr. Distinguished Service Award for his exceptional service to the committee and its subcommittees.
Edwards has been with Big R Bridge since 2007, where he has been a valuable resource in developing the structural steel plate and corrugated steel pipe markets. While at Big R Bridge, Dan has overseen the Federal and State approval program for Super Cor — Deep Corrugated Structural Plate structures with great success.
Big R Bridge is celebrating 40 years of designing and manufacturing bridges, structural plate, corrugated pipe and wall systems. Big R Currently has manufacturing locations in Greeley, Colorado and Mansfield, Texas. Big R Bridge is part of the AIL group of companies that manufacture bridges, plate and mining materials all over the world.
Dan Edwards joined ASTM International in 1987, working on several A05 subcommittees and served on Committees B07 on Light Metals and Alloys and F17 on Plastic Piping Systems. In addition to ASTM International, Edwards serves on Committee AFF70 of the Transportation Research Board and he is a member of the Flexible Culvert Liaison Committee of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO).
Edwards began his career at Caldwell Culvert Co., where he started as a sales engineer and eventually rose to the position of vice president/chief engineer. Dan also played a key role as Chief engineer at the National Corrugated Steel Pipe Association before joining Big R Bridge in 2007.
Edwards holds a bachelor’s degree in agricultural engineering from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, AR, and currently resides in Colleyville, TX.
