Stepping out of our usual Prefabricated Bridge offering, Big R was recently asked to manufacture the components for a site-built bridge in Essex County, NY. The Mason Road Bridge over Spruce Mill Brook, replaced a bridge damaged by hurricane Irene. In this case, the customer had already designed their bridge, but needed a trusted and reliable manufacturer to produce the components to be site-built by local labor.
Modular/Truss or Component Systems: have it your way
Typically we design and prefabricate Modular or Truss style bridges within our own facilities and deliver them in large sections for accelerated installation and minimal site impact. This process has helped Big R provide a high degree of quality control and value for over 40 years. However, if a site-built bridge is what you are looking for, we can also design and fabricate Component Bridge Systems with several key benefits.
Purchasing a Component Bridge System from Big R Bridge has many advantages over other steel component fabricators.
- Single-source convenience for design and fabrication
The System is pre-designed by our own in-house engineers and not by a third-party. Full design and fabrication responsibility rests with one source.
- Over 40 years of bridge building experience
We make bridges every day, so we know how to design and fabricate their components for others to build more easily.
- Bridge factory workflow and quality control processes
Our bridge components are fabricated by the same teams that build our pre-assembled modular bridges and benefit from the same accelerated workflow and quality control processes.
- Efficient delivery and site supervision services
With over 10,000 bridges to our credit, we are accustomed to managing delivery and construction site issues that may arise.
- Ability to bundle with abutments
Big R has extensive experience with abutment systems and can provide a complete engineered package.
