Big R Bridge has its sights set on the eastern US and beyond with its recent purchase of the former Lynchburg Steel facility, in Abingdon, VA.
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling and State Delegate Joe Johnson (D-Abingdon) look on as Big R Bridge President and CEO, Cameron Klein, speaks at the official announcement on July 10.
“We chose Washington County for its central location on the eastern seaboard’s interstates, its rural atmosphere and its pro-business environment,” said Klein. “We’ve been very impressed with the reception we’ve received. It feels like home to us already.”
“The cost of shipping our bridging solutions to the east coast from our Colorado plant has always been a factor,” added Klein. “Adding this facility will definitely open the door to serving the whole East Coast more efficiently.”
Production expected to begin in October
Capital improvements to the 60,000 sq. ft. building are now underway and bridge production is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2012.
