11 walls angle and turn in second phase of Florida project

February 6, 2013

Flordia(web)Immediately adjacent to the 17-wall SR429/SR414 Interchange Project we reported on previously, we are now working on 11 more walls (178,790 SF panel area) in the next project phase known as the SR429/SR414 Maitland Extension.

This phase includes five bridges and many challenging geometries:

  • Two walls with modified panel joints to facilitate extremely tight 20' radii
  • A closed 40' high box in a confined area backfilled with a conveyor system
  • One temporary wire wall to facilitate traffic while a permanent wall was built
  • Flordia4(web)One terraced wall with combined height of 40'
Graffiti-resistant Fractured Fin finish

In keeping with Florida’s preference for attractive, durable and graffiti-resistant finishes, Fractured Fin was specified for the 5' x5' panels. The finished precast walls and coping were later painted in warm natural colors to offset the green steel bridges.
